Commitment.....Does the paperwork really make a difference?

Ok so the other night we had a really interesting conversation about committment. We covered everything from why do women prefer marriage over long-term comitments and is there really a difference? When in a relationship does "committment" start? Does marriage mean a different level of comittment that can not be found in a relationship that has lasted for years but just doesn't have the "paperwork"?

My husband, sister and I had some really great points and it was cool to see it from different points of view! Here is some of the conversation that we shared! (YAYYYY!!! Our first In Love...On Purpose video!!

My bottom line is that there are definitely levels to comittment! A relationship is practice for marriage and a time where a committment and trust and communication is built. Marriage is like a recital to a ballerina. It's not necessary, the dancer is a still a dancer, but it showcases everything that the couple has worked so hard to build. It displays the couple's growth to family and friends. It's a vow to your mate that you're all in!! No one is perfect and mistakes can happen in marriage but it's two people who agree to make the best effort to be loyal, honest, and committed to that one person!

We also got some feedback from family and friends or Facebook!! Here are some of their thoughts"

"It depends on the ppl. Some ppl are cool with common law. Marriage isn't for everybody."

"What's a long term commitment? To me, there isn't a commitment. But that goes with it depending on the ppl. I'm the wife type! He gotta buy this cow! Ain't no free milk bih!"

"Marriage is definitely necessary in the eyes of the law, and if you believe...in the eyes of God. However, I also believe two people can be totally committed with out marriage, just like two people can be married without being committed...it's all a matter of character, morals, loyalty and belief!!!"

"I feel that marriage solidifies commitment. Marriages means much more than merely commitment, it's family, love, faith, law, tradition, etc."

Feel free to leave comments!! I would LOVE to read your opinions, thoughts and views!
